Traveling while fasting

Fatwaa ID: 788

Question:
Asalamulaikum, I will be traveling in Ramadan by means of a plane. I plan to go to Saudi Arabia. My flight will be at 2pm; in this situation, what should I do for fasting and prayers?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala make your travels safe and productive. In the enquired situation, you will have to fast on that day. You will be able to break your fast with the first sunset that you see. Salaahs will be performed according to the timings in the area you are flying over. Alternatively, you may calculate the salaah times and perform five salaahs in one day. An app or website that may be of assistance for your iftaar as well at your salaahs is https://www.halaltrip.com/prayertimes/inflight/.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
