Trucking business query

Assalomu Aleykum. I have very specific questions about the business I am in. I’m currently in trucking business, own a truck and have a driver who drives it. I work with a separate company who I pay commission to find freight for my truck. Sometimes they find loads for my driver, who is a solo driver, team freights. Which means is that when getting team freights you are basically telling the freight owner I have two drivers in the truck and who will drive non stop to make it to the destination. In reality, there is only one driver but he also drives non stop and makes it to the destination without any delay or problems just like two drivers would have done. So my question is, is pretending to have two driver when you only have one considered Haram? Also it is important to note that one driver still gets the requested job done without any issues or hardships to the freight owner. No damage was given to the freight owner in terms of money or time. Just the pretension of two drivers instead of one. Will this only make the earned income Haram? Thank you for your time.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala place barakah in your business.

We take note of the details of your query. A Muslim is honest and truthful in all his affairs, including his business dealings. Being dishonest in one’s dealings deprives him of barakah. Furthermore, a Muslim must maintain and uphold all the agreements that he makes. The team freights are given with the condition that there are two drivers. This condition is in place for the benefit of both parties. While your driver may be able to fulfill the job of two drivers and have the freight delivered at the same time, it is not ideal nor appropriate for him to do that. Accordingly, it will not be permissible for you to lie to get a job you are not eligible for. You may only get the jobs that are solo unless your hire a second driver.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
