Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Old Masjid was small and downstairs about 4 rows

Few years later extension as community grew

So main masjid moved upstairs

Downstairs is used as Madrassah with classroom

Can the Masjid teach from old Masjid and make into classroom

Answer:

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is not clear from your query whether the above place is a masjid or a musalla. If a portion is designated as masjid, then its status as masjid cannot be changed. It will remain masjid forever. Likewise, whatever is above it and below it will also be masjid even if it is not being used for that directly. A musalla on the other hand does not have any restrictions or specifications.

A masjid may be used for classes. However, the sanctity and etiquettes of the masjid must be observed at all times.
