Using scented soap while in ihraam

Fatwaa ID: 1550

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah,
How are you? I have questions regarding the muzdaliah camp they had a soap in bathroom which was smelly. I was washing my hands. Do I need to do DAM? Please let me know. Thank you
by smelly she means scented

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is unfortunate that the administrators leave such soaps in the Hajj camps for people to use. May Allaah Ta’aala guide them and give them the ability to do the right things.

Nevertheless, it is not permissible to use scented soap while in the state of ihraam. If one has used scented soap while in ihraam, then he has to give sadaqah to atone for it. That is approximately SAR 15. Istighfaar should be made as well.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
