Wazeefah for a must have job

Fatwaa ID: 2089

Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
My friend asked

“I applied for a job/internship and had my interview already but I still haven’t gotten a response and it’s been about two weeks now. However last week I emailed the boss to ask for an update if I got approved and she said they’re still in the process. And this job is a must for me to have for my family and I since it can help us out financially. So I was just wondering if there’s any sort of dua or wazifah I can make to land this job.”

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We take note of the details of your query. May Allaah Ta’aala make it easy for you and place barakah in your life.

We wish to firstly remind you that there is no job that is a must have. Allaah Ta’aala provides and sustains. A job is only a means that Allaah Ta’aala uses. There is no guarantee that a specific job will be good or perfect you. What you assume to be good or what may look like good may not necessarily be good. Place your trust and reliance upon Allaah Ta’aala, not your job.

Secondly, there is no wazeefah that can guarantee you something. Part of the istikhaarah du’aa that we make is asking Allaah Ta’aala to facilitate it for us if there is goodness in it and keep it away from us if there is evil in it for us. The same should be with all our matters. Ask Allaah Ta’aala for khayr.

You may recite the following Qur’anic du’aas,

“Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.” [al-Baqarah 201]

رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍۢ فَقِيرٌۭ
“My Lord! I am in dire need of whatever good you would send down for me.” [al-Qasas 24]

Along with the above, give sadaqah regularly. Send salawaat upon Nabi ﷺ in abundance. Make it a habit of reciting Surah al-Waaqi’ah every night. Perform Salaah al-Haajah. Connect with the one who is on control over everything. Live your life in accordance to the sunnah of Rasulullaah ﷺ. Stay away from anything that is contrary to the Shari’ah and/or his sunnah.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
