Wet dream and waswasah

Fatwaa ID: 1836

Question:
asalamalakim I had a wet dream and when I woke up saw a stain of prostatic fluid on my bed to the size of greater than a dirham. I do have these extra sheets like 2-3 sheets underneath the bed sheets. I went to proceeding taking a shower and my mom took over to get rid of these sheets and now I had this thought that the prostatic fluid stain transferred to my mattress. What should I do ? Should I ignore the waswas and my mom said she didn’t see any sign of wetness transferred but I’m hesitant to accept. if I have wet hands and I touch that area will my hands become impure?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The default is purity and that remains the status unless certainty is found contrary to it. You state that your honorable mother did not see any wetness. Likewise, we understand from your query that you too were unable to find any wetness. Accordingly, your mattress is clean and does not contain any impurity. You may touch that portion with wet hands. Ignore the waswasah. It is from the shaytaan. If the thought comes to you, recite a’udhu billaah.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
