Wigs for cancer patients

Fatwaa ID: 1510

As-salaamu ‘alaykum, a question from someone: Are cancer patients who have undergone chemotherapy allowed to wear wigs? Jazaakum Allaahu khayran.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is permissible for cancer patients and others to wear wigs that are made from material other than human hair and pig hair. Wigs made from human hair and pig hair are not permissible. When wearing a wig, one must ensure that it is not done in a situation where it is effectively deceptive, such as when meeting a suitor or his family.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
