Woman whose heart is attached to the masjid

Fatwaa ID: 2163

Question:
In a hadith in which 7 persons are in the shade of Allah on the day of Qiyamah, among them is a person whose heart is connected to the masjid,so can we ladies expect the same reward if we love to be in ibaadah on our musallah at home.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala include you from amongst those who will be shaded by Him tomorrow. We commend you for your zeal.

There are various ways to understand this blessed hadith in the context of women. One meaning could be that women are included under the term “men”. This happens very often in Arabic and in the sacred texts. Her heart is attached to the masjid yet she understands and submits that Nabi ﷺ advised her that her salaah in the confines of her home is far better than in the masjid. She thus prays at home despite her heart longing for the masjid. Another meaning could be that she is always concerned about the well-being of the masjid. She contributes with her charities, her du’aas and other possible means. Another way she can show attachment to the masjid is by encouraging the male folk in her house or family to attend the congregational salaahs diligently. As for what you have suggested in the query, it is hoped that the same reward would be given to her as well.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
