Working at a pet shop

Fatwaa ID: 471

Question:
Assalamu alaykum
Mufti saheb,
Someone works at a pet shop.
He handles snakes, lizards, iguanas.
He also treats dog and he prefers playing with them rather than cats.

So what you say on dealing with snakes and lizards?

What precautions to take when interacting with dogs?

JazakAllahu khaira

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

When dealing with such animals, he should ensure his safety first. He should also ensure that their saliva and/or perspiration and other fluids does not come on his clothing or body. If they do, then that portion has to be washed.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
