Working in a non-Halal Restaurant

Fatwaa ID: 1953

As Salamu alykum
Respected mufti saheb

My question to you is:

My cousin recently moved to Canada from India, He has found a part time job in a SUB takeway.

His job includes PREPARING SUBS, Receiving stock of the meat, pork.

The problem is the subs include non halal chicken/beef and also PORK.

Is it permissible for him to work in such a restaurant where he is directly involved in preparing the SUBS?

Will his income be halal?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We take note of the details of your query. It is of utmost importance that one’s income is halaal. The acceptance of one’s du’aas is dependent on this. The barakah in one’s life is affected by this. The job in question is not Shari’ah compliant. The income therefrom is not halaal. Your cousin is directly assisting in feeding haraam. He should actively seek an alternative job. It may be difficult, but when he leaves it for Allaah Ta’aala, Allaah Ta’aala will certainly bless him with something better.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
