Working in a sexual health clinic

Fatwaa ID: 2239

1 – If a Muslim works in a sexual health clinic but as admin/reception is this right or not islamically?

2 – Can the Muslim work its way up into health care or nurse roles?

3 – In general what do doctors and nurses in hospitals or surgeries do as Muslims? They have to have patients of all genders and do all treatments.

So where do you go in towards career wise? A lot in our society isn’t Islamically friendly even jobs.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

  1. It is permissible for a Muslim to work at a sexual health clinic as a medical professional as well as an admin or receptionist.
  2. Yes. A Muslim may provide health care or serve as a nurse at such a clinic.
  3. Try your level best to see patients of your same biological gender. Remain professional. Ensure that there is no khalwah. Only look or touch from the body that which is necessary and relevant. Ensure that you maintain the laws of hijaab and inter-gender interactions.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
