ZAKAT ON VACANT LAND

Question:
I have borrowed money from relatives to purchase a vacant land.

Do I have to pay Zakaah on this land ,I have not done anything on the land yet .

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, there is no zakaah on the purchased land itself unless you intended reselling the land at the time of purchase. If you intended reselling it, then it will be regarded to be stock-in-trade and zakaah will be due on the land according to your personal financial situation to be assessed according to the general principles of zakaah[1]
